SB 1030, PN 1239 (Gordner): Amends the Unemployment Compensation Law. The bill adds Section 302.1 which specifies the provisions by which employers are granted relief from charges for benefits that were awarded to ineligible claimants. Sen. Boscola offered Amendment A02416, which would not accept debit cards or benefit cards issued by a federal or state government agency for unemployment compensation benefits. The amendment failed 13-36. The bill was unanimously approved.

SB 9, PN 1240 (Scarnati): Requires identification of lawful presence in the United States as a prerequisite to the receipt of public benefits. The bill also requires the person to execute an affidavit stating that the person is a United States citizen, legal permanent resident or otherwise lawfully present in the United States. The bill was approved 40-9.

SB 27, PN 1241 (Greenleaf): Amends what is commonly referred to as the Puppy Lemon Law. The bill makes changes to the current law about sick animals and extends time periods to report illnesses based on recommendations by the Office of the Attorney General who is charged with administering the law. The bill was approved unanimously.

HB 218, PN 168 (Saylor): Designates State Route 462 in West Manchester Township, York County, from its intersection with U.S. Route 30 to its intersection with State Route 24 in Springettsbury Township, as the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway. The bill was approved unanimously.

SB 328, PN 305 (Dinniman): Adds section 1338.1 to provide for the restoration of operating privileges prior to the expiration of the statutory suspension period.  Operating privileges shall be restored prior to the expiration of the period of suspension upon receipt of a certified record from the court. The bill was approved unanimously.

SB 450, PN 433 (D. White): Amends Title 30 (Fish) to provide for the terms of office for members of the Fish and Boat Commission. This legislation removes the 6-month language, and would allow a sitting Commissioner to continue his term beyond eight years until a successor is appointed. The bill was approved unanimously.

SB 566, PN 1032 (Solobay): The Donora-Monessen Bridge carrying the C. Vance Deicas Memorial Highway (S.R. 1077) over the Monongahela River will be named the “Stan the Man Musial Bridge.”  The bridge connects Washington County (Donora) and Westmoreland County (Monessen).The Department of Transportation will place the appropriate signs in both directions on the bridge. The bill was approved unanimously.

SB 637, PN 1242 (Ward): Amends Title 62 (Procurement) by requiring that, as a precondition for a contract award for a state project, contractors must submit a statement to the applicable state agency affirming that they have verified the Social Security numbers of employees of the contractor or subcontractors. The bill was approved 42-7.

SB 907, PN 1243 (Browne): Amends §1732-A of the Fiscal Code to extend the expiration date of the provisions governing the authority of the State Workers’ Insurance Board to invest money. It extends the expiration date of the provisions governing the authority of the State Workers’ Insurance Board to invest money. The bill was approved unanimously.
