HARRISBURG – June 19, 2019 – Sen. Katie Muth (D-Berks, Chester, Montgomery) joined advocates of the clean energy movement today as they rallied to promote renewable energy initiatives at the state capitol.

“We have a duty to maintain our values of security, safety, health, protection, and quality of life not just for the sake of ourselves, but our neighbors and loved ones for generations to come,” said Muth. “Clean air and clean water are fundamental human rights, not luxuries for the privileged and wealthy.”

Senator Muth is among the many bi-partisan sponsors who support the 100% renewable energy bill, Senate Bill 630, introduced by Sen. Tom Killion. The bill aims to provide increased environmental protections in Pennsylvania and establish new agencies to oversee the transition to a cleaner energy future.

SB 630 also carries a significant economic boost, in addition to decreased dependency on fossil fuels. Muth noted that a 10% increase in solar energy opportunities alone would create over 65,000 quality jobs and decrease energy costs by $619 million across the Commonwealth.
