HARRISBURG, PA – September 15, 2026 – Today, Senator Patty Kim (D-Dauphin) announced over $8.8 million in state funding for projects that will improve the lives of residents across Dauphin County.
These funds were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority via the Statewide Local Share Account, which distributes money from gaming revenues to counties to support projects in the interest of the public.
“It is always an honor to be able to secure state funding for the local projects that our communities need most, like those that support our first responders, municipalities, nonprofits, and community organizations,” said Senator Kim. “Collaborative thinking yields sound investments. Thanks to the partnership of my House colleagues, Rep. Justin Fleming, Rep. Dave Madsen, Rep. Nate Davidson, Rep. Tom Mehaffie, and Rep. Joe Kerwin, we’ve been able to deliver real, meaningful quality-of-life investments for Dauphin County.”
The following organizations received funding via the Local Share Account:
- The Latino Connection Foundation received $550,000 for the purchase of three mobile health clinics for use in Lower Paxton Township.
- The Zembo Shriners received $995,058 for the renovation and maintenance of the historic Zembo Shrine complex.
- The Qavah Foundation received $500,000 for the construction of Eden Village Tiny Homes, which will provide housing for the homeless population in the City of Harrisburg.
- The Harrisburg Area YMCA received $300,000 for improvements to the Friendship YMCA facility in Lower Paxton Township.
- Historic Harrisburg Association, Inc. received $600,000 for the restoration and preservation of the Midtown Historic District’s 1893 Central Trust Company building.
- Harrisburg Realty Improvements Corporation received $100,000 for a housing unit improvement project in downtown Harrisburg.
- Milton S. Hershey Medical Center received $343,526 for the renovation of 18 emergency department rooms to better accommodate the treatment of patients with behavioral health disorders.
- Vista Adult Services Organization received $95,267 for the purchase of two vehicles to help transport people with disabilities to their daily activities, jobs, and healthcare.
- Wildheart International Ministries received $203,635 for the purchase of three vehicles to assist with the transportation of fresh fruits and vegetables from the Hill Farm to communities facing difficulties accessing fresh foods.
- The Harrisburg Area YMCA received $800,000 for the construction of a new elevator at the East Shore YMCA to make all areas of the building ADA-accessible.
- The Susquehanna Regional Transportation Agency received $600,000 to construct a new Operations, Maintenance, Administrative, and Transfer Center facility in the City of Harrisburg.
- Citizens Fire Company #1 of Highspire received $500,000 for the purchase of a new fire engine to be used in Highspire Borough.
- The Dauphin Middle Paxton Fire Company received $400,000 for the purchase of a new fire engine to be used in Middle Paxton Township.
- Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority received $120,000 for the purchase of 24 emergency call boxes to be installed in the Multimodal Transportation Facility located in Lower Swatara Township.
The following municipalities received funding via the Local Share Account:
- Lower Paxton Township received $400,000 for the purchase of emergency service radios to be utilized by the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire.
- Lower Swatara Township received $475,000 for improvements to Greenfield Park.
- Middletown Borough received $497,000 for the replacement of deteriorating sidewalks.
- Paxtang Borough received $116,723 for a new dump truck that will be able to help the highway department work on jobs and maintain a healthy roadway system.
- Penbrook Borough received $400,000 for roadway upgrades and improvements.
- Royalton Borough received $89,500 for the design and permitting for a flood mitigation project.
- Royalton Borough received $66,000 for the purchase of a new police vehicle.
- Steelton Borough received $238,000 for the purchase of four new police vehicles.
- West Hanover Township received $350,000 for improvements to Mt. Laurel Park.
- Dauphin Borough received $127,883 for the purchase of a new truck to serve the borough.
