June 11, 2025 – Senator Vincent Hughes, Senate Democratic Appropriations Chair, announced over $1.6M in grants for Philadelphia and Montgomery County to support substance abuse education and recovery, victims of child abuse, and violence prevention. The grants were awarded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).

“These are important investments that provide relief, support, and hope,” said Senator Hughes “I’m proud to announce this substantial funding for Philadelphia and Montgomery County. I will continue to fight for more to help children and adults who may be suffering or want to do better for themselves and their communities. I encourage my colleagues at all levels of government to do the same.”

PCCD awarded over $18M for several grant programs they oversee, including State Endowment Act Funds, State Violence and Delinquency Prevention Programs (VDPP) Funds, State Substance Abuse Education and Demand Reduction (SAEDR) Funds, and Federal Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Funds. 

The following projects were awarded PCCD grants in Philadelphia and Montgomery County:

State Endowment Act Funds

  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia- Tele-Behavioral Health for Child Sexual Abuse

State Violence and Delinquency Prevention Programs (VDPP) Funds

  • City of Philadelphia- Philadelphia DAO Youth Advisory Council
  • KS Consultants- Bucks and Montgomery County YJAB 
  • Support Center for Child Advocate- Philadelphia Youth Survivor Advisory Board Council

Federal Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Funds

  • City of Philadelphia- PPD-OFS Coverdell Equipment Grant

State Substance Abuse Education Demand Reduction (SAEDR)

  • Norristown Hospitality Center- Preventing Substance Abuse with Seeking Safety
  • The Sunday Breakfast Association of Philadelphia- Evidence-Based Management Program
  • Vietgroup Empowers- Vietnamese Community Substance Abuse Prevention
