Allegheny County, PA – February 7, 2023 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced $249,044 in grants for fire companies, emergency medical service, and volunteer rescue squads. Grants were awarded to 18 organizations in the 42nd Senatorial District from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner.

“I’m thrilled to see these funds invested in public safety and the people who work tirelessly to help others in their most urgent time of need,” said Senator Fontana.  “Our firefighters and EMS workers need adequate resources to do their jobs. These grants support the important work they do and the safety of our communities.”

  • Avalon Volunteer Fire Company – $12,109
  • Bower Hill VFD (Scott Twp.) – $14,317.55
  • Carnegie Volunteer Fire and Rescue – $11,861.25
  • City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire – $15,000
  • Columbia Hose Hook and Ladder Co. No 1 (Bellevue) – $12,598.14
  • Crafton Volunteer Fire Department – $15,000
  • Dormont Volunteer Fire Department – $15,000
  • East Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department – $13,335.03
  • Glendale Hose Company Number One (Carnegie) – $12,473
  • Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company – $13,580.66
  • Kennedy Township Ind. Volunteer Fire Department – $14,071.92
  • Millvale Volunteer Fire Department – $15,000
  • Neville Island General Volunteer Fire Department – $13,089.40
  • Reserve Volunteer Fire Department – $28,273.86
