Lower Gwynedd, Pa. – May 22, 2020 — In response to Governor Wolf’s announcements at today’s 4 PM press conference, Senator Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery/Bucks) offers the following initial reactions:

“The residents and businesses of Bucks and Montgomery County have been among the hardest hit in Pennsylvania by the COVID crisis, physically, emotionally and financially. With today’s announcement that the governor anticipates that our counties will move to yellow by June 5th, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and begin preparing to rebuild. That said, I wish Governor Wolf had been more definite with his wording.”

“Earlier this week, I wrote a letter calling on Governor Wolf to demonstrate that he understood the extreme challenges we are facing in the Southeast. I commend and thank him for hearing my call and bringing us this message of hope, without sacrificing his commitment to putting public health and safety first. I encourage him to continue to keep an open and direct line of communication with the people of our region during the next two weeks and beyond, so that we’re able to contribute to a faster reopening and plan our families’ and businesses’ summers.”

“As we move forward, I will continue to prioritize the same things I have throughout this crisis: transparency and constituent service; protecting vulnerable populations from this virus, particularly the residents and staff at long-term care facilities; and driving economic relief and resources to businesses and individuals in Bucks and Montgomery Counties to help us rebuild.”
