Norristown, PA – April 15, 2026 – Today, Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17 Delaware/Montgomery) announced $1,614,751 in Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP) grant funding for schools and organizations across the 17th Senate District.

The 2025-26 Pennsylvania State Budget allocated approximately $62.15 million for VIP and Building Opportunities Through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) grants awards, which is administered through The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee.

VIP grants in particular aim to uplift programs that reduce intentional interpersonal violence in areas of Pennsylvania with high rates of firearm-related violence crime and/or firearm-related injury.

“Whether one of our neighbors is seeking violence prevention tools or is in need of immediate help while navigating a dangerous situation, we are incredibly fortunate to have programming opportunities across District 17 to give their support, and address violence prevention and intervention head-on,” said Senator Cappelletti. “These organizations are on the ground every day providing essential services that prioritize everyone’s wellbeing. I’ve been proud to work with my colleagues in the legislature to secure this funding, ensuring organizations have what they need to continue keeping our community a safe place to call home.”
