Norristown – July 17, 2026 – Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti’s (D-17, Delaware/Montgomery) is proud to announce $10,700,000 in state grant funding for organizations and municipalities across Senate District 17.
The Office of the Budget authorized this funding through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which supports projects that have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
“This funding allows local municipalities and community institutions to make much-needed capital improvements. I am thrilled that such a diverse selection of projects in District 17 are receiving support to move critical initiatives forward,” said Senator Cappelletti. “I’m proud to have worked with our local partners to secure this funding, guaranteeing District 17 thrives and uplifts everyone who lives, works in, and visits our community.”
Awards Serving Radnor Township
With Pennsylvania House Representative Lisa Borowski (D-168, Delaware)
- Eastern University Walton Hall — $500,000 to support the construction of an elevator in Eastern’s Walton Hall that will make accessibility improvements addressing long-standing barriers for students, staff, and visitors.
“One of the first projects I heard about as a newly sworn in representative was Eastern’s desire to update Walton Hall and make it accessible to all students, faculty, and staff. This beautiful building is the heart of Eastern’s campus. It is exciting to help make possible the advancement of this important project,” said Representative Borowski.
- Fenimore Woods Park — $700,000 for site-wide comprehensive improvements to Fenimore Woods Park, including Stable Renovations, Upper and Lower Parking Lot Rehabilitation, New Accessible Walking Path, Fencing, Site Furnishings, Park Signage, and Tree Plantings/Landscaping.
“The enhancement of Fenimore Woods has long been a need in Radnor Township, a project which started way back when I was a Commissioner. I’m thrilled to join with Senator Cappelletti to support efforts to preserve the historic stable and upgrades to this beloved community park,” said Representative Borowski.
Awards Serving Lower Merion Township
With Pennsylvania House Representative Tim Briggs (D-149, Montgomery)
- ACC-PALM Senior Center III — $500,000 for the construction of the Ardmore Ave Community Center which will include flexible programming space, a full-size gymnasium and community use space. The improvements to the surrounding reconfigured park will include onsite parking, reconfigured and more user-friendly hard courts for basketball, tennis/pickleball, and volleyball as well as an accessible playground and picnic area adjacent to the existing community swimming pool.
“I’m happy to join Senator Cappelletti in advocating for this important investment in our community,” said Representative Briggs. “Funding through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program will help bring the vision for the Ardmore Avenue Community Center to life, creating a modern, accessible space where residents can gather, stay active, and participate in programs for years to come. I appreciate Senator Cappelletti’s partnership in supporting projects that strengthen our neighborhoods and improve quality of life for families across our region.”
Awards Serving Norristown Borough
With Pennsylvania House Representative Greg Scott (D-54, Montgomery)
- Elmwood Park Zoo North America Exhibit — $5,000,000 for the construction of a new North America Exhibit. This will include the construction of several exhibits that will eventually house bison, wolves, porcupines, grouse, marten, bald eagles, alligators, and otters.
- Main Street Norristown Redevelopment — $3,000,000 for the demolition and site prep work for the current blighted location, along with the construction of commercial retail storefronts to transform the downtown business district in Norristown.
- Norristown Public Library — $500,000 for the comprehensive renovation and expansion of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library and its adjacent parking lot at 1001 Powell Street. The existing 78,000-square-foot facility will be expanded to 85,000 square feet, with replacement of all structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems. The renovation will transform the library into a state-of-the-art community resource, providing four new meeting rooms, ten study pods, and enhanced flexible spaces to accommodate expanded programming.
- Senior Adult Activity Center — $500,000 for a comprehensive renovation of the existing Montgomery County Senior Adult Activities Center facility in Norristown, PA. RACP funds would support four components; ADA bathroom rehabilitation, chain street wing refurbishment, including; update flooring, walls, ceilings, and modern lighting, HVAC system replacement, and elevator completion to provide second floor access.
“This funding supports some of the most widely accessed facilities in our district, and will make those facilities more dynamic and accessible,” said Representative Scott. “When these projects are completed, our residents will be able to enjoy them and our greater community knowing we’ve invested in bringing them modern, well-thought resources.”
