Norristown – August 31, 2026 – Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17, Delaware/Montgomery) is pleased to celebrate $300,000 in state grant funding that will bolster housing rehabilitation programming in Norristown Borough.
This grant award is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s “Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery” (CDBG-DR), specifically to fund long-term recovery efforts for federally-designated disaster areas impacted by Hurricane Ida in 2021.
Norristown Borough is one of two Montgomery County grant recipients during this round of funding, and the award will help rehabilitate 5-6 owner-occupied housing units to mitigate hurricane damage.
“Our nation’s housing crisis, and the reality of climate change and worsening natural disasters, are consistently threatening our community’s access to sustainable, safe housing options,” said Senator Cappelletti. “Hurricane Ida was one of the most devastating hurricanes to impact District 17 in recent memory, and this funding is essential for our ongoing efforts to rebuild infrastructure that serves our neighbors. I hope we continue to prioritize projects that ensure we all have access to safe and habitable places we can call home.”
