DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – January 28, 2025 – Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) today announced two projects in the 26th Senatorial District will receive a total of $350,000 in state funding to support development, rehabilitation, and improvements to public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails, and river conservation.
Lansdowne Borough, and Morton Borough will receive the funding through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP).
“This state investment in our communities through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program is a testament to the commonwealth’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents,” said Senator Kearney. “I’m happy to know that I played a part in securing these grants, helping to ensure that the residents in the 26th district are being positioned to have a healthier, more vibrant life. Congratulations to Lansdowne and Morton Boroughs for being awarded this critical funding. I’m excited to celebrate the completion of their respective projects in the future.”
Awardees and Project Information:
- $100,000 for Lansdowne Borough to assist with the municipality’s Veteran’s Park project (phase 2)
- $250,000 for Morton Borough to assist with the municipality’s Jacob’s Park project (phase 3).
Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP):
Act 13 of 2012 establishes the Marcellus Legacy Fund and allocates funds to the Commonwealth Financing Authority (the “Authority”) for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks, and beautification projects using the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP).
