Harrisburg – May 28, 2020 – Sen. Anthony Williams (D- Philadelphia/Delaware) announced that the Pennsylvania Senate has passed Senate Bill 1108 which allocates $2.602 billion of federal CARES Act for Pennsylvania.

“These funds were given to Pennsylvania through the federal CARES Act, and I am very pleased that number of proposals myself and my democratic colleagues outlined in April to fund PPE for frontline workers, assistance to small businesses, schools, farmers and frontline workers have been funded through this bill,” Williams said.

The specific funding of CARES Act relief through Senate Bill 1108 includes:

  • Housing Assistance – $175 million
  • Small Business – $245 million
  • Higher Education – $72 million
  • Frontline Worker Hazard Pay – $50 million
  • School Safety (COVID-19 Related) – $150 million
  • Health and Human Services – $772 million
  • Community ID Waiver – $259 million
  • Childcare/Early Education – $125 million
  • County Municipal Relief – $625 million
  • Agriculture – $50 million
  • Safety Net Programs – $29 million
  • Emergency Management Services – $100 million

Williams said that Pennsylvanians in every part of the state are suffering due to the tragic effects of the COVID-19 virus, but this relief money will serve those with the greatest needs.

“Providing our communities with funds for adequate housing, food, education, and emergency services is our duty, and I am proud that we have been able to provide for the people of our Commonwealth in a bipartisan way,” Williams said.
