HARRISBURG – Jan. 28, 2019 – Sen. John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) will join victims’ rights advocates on Tuesday, Jan. 29 to rally support for Marsy’s Law, legislation sponsored by Sabatina that amends the state Constitution to ensure the rights of crime victims are included within the criminal justice system.

“Last session, Marsy’s Law received overwhelming support and the momentum is continuing this session,” Sabatina said. “As a General Assembly, we must make Pennsylvania a state where crime victims receive their fair share of rights and protections”.

“Marsy’s Law would lift the state’s Victims Bill of Rights to a constitutional level.”

The legislation has already received 26 cosponsors this session and Sabatina believes support will grow.

“The rally on Tuesday is an opportunity to inform the public of this vital legislation and to gain support for Marsy’s Law.”

The rally will be held in Harrisburg in the Main Capitol Rotunda at 9:30 am.

In addition to the senator, notable speakers for the rally include state Rep. Sheryl Delozier; Kevin Steele, District Attorney for Montgomery County; and Jennifer Storm, leader of the Pennsylvania Office of the Victim Advocate.
