SB 111 PN 1279 (Argall): Amends Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in general administration relating to correctional institutions, providing for residency of corrections officers. Allows a State correctional institution to hire or promote out of state correctional officers. The bill was approved 50-0.
HB 646 PN 655 (Mako): This bill permits the use of headphones or helmets with headphone capabilities by motorcyclists while operating a motorcycle. The bill was approved 47-3
SB 992 PN 1159 (Brooks): This bill amends the Telemarketer Registration Act of 1996 to update provisions related to telemarketing practices, including telephone solicitations such as calls, texts, voicemails and automated communications, and establishing updated standards for consent, registration exemptions, calling times, prohibiting “spoofing,” and enforcement. Senator Brooks offered Amendment A01964 which eliminates the need for the prior expresses written consent between a called party and seller to be (1) dated and (2) “specific and individual,” i.e., eliminates the one-to-one requirement. The amendment was adopted 50-0 and the bill went over as amended.
