Senator Art Haywood, Gov. Josh Shapiro

October 10, 2024 − A representative from Governor Shapiro’s office delivered the following statement from the Governor in response to Senator Haywood’s ENOUGH Report.

“Governor Shapiro would like to thank Senator Haywood, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and the PASSHE leadership for their work in completing the ENOUGH report. As we reflect on the experiences shared by students across the Commonwealth, it’s crucial to remember that William Penn founded Pennsylvania on the principles of tolerance and respect. The challenges outlined in this report remind us that our work is far from over; we must ensure that all students feel safe, supported, and empowered to express themselves fully on PASSHE campuses. It’s encouraging to see the commitment from our leaders and institutions to cultivate an environment free from discrimination. Our campuses are vibrant meeting grounds for students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, races, and religions; fostering an environment where everyone can learn from one another. We recognize that diversity is one of our greatest strengths and enriching our academic community and making us better neighbors, friends, and colleagues. As an Administration, we are committed to doing what we can to fully realize Penn’s vision for our commonwealth and would like to encourage all PASSHE leaders to learn from this report and ensure that campuses are a place where all students, faculty, and staff feel welcome, respected, and valued.”
