Senator Kearney Hosts Senior Expo

Senator Tim Kearney, Rep. Heather Boyd, and local seniors participate in a Chair Yoga workout led by the Widener University Institute for Occupational Therapy Education department during the elected officials’ 6th Annual Senior Expo at the Drexelbrook on September 18.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – September 25, 2025 – Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) and Representative Heather Boyd (D-Delaware) recently co-hosted the 6th Annual Senior Expo in partnership with Senior Community Services (SCS) at The Drexelbrook Catering & Event Center.

This marks the sixth year Senator Kearney has organized the event and the third year he has teamed up with Rep. Boyd. Hundreds of seniors, their caregivers, and families attended to enjoy activities, gather resources, and connect with community partners.

The expo was supported by gold-level sponsors, The Drexelbrook, PECO, Pfizer, Senior Community Services County, along with several dozen vendors who provided free and low-cost services. Throughout the event, more than two dozen door prizes, including gift baskets and gift cards, were raffled off, all generously donated by participating vendors.

Guests also enjoyed live music, fitness workouts like Zumba Gold and Chair Yoga, and health screenings offered by Widener University Community Clinic Services, and flu shots courtesy of Springfield Pharmacy.

Alma Lucy, a senior from Aldan who attended with her older sister, praised the event’s value to the community. Lucy, a regular at the expo who has won raffle prizes three times, said, “I get to see a lot of different people that I haven’t seen in a while. It’s a different atmosphere, and they have a lot to offer. I like to come out and communicate, and I hope other people sign up for the resources or services they need while they are here.”

“Six years later, and I’m always excited for this event and another chance to make sure our seniors have direct access to the services and support that matter most to them,” said Senator Kearney. “Year after year, it continues to get better, allowing more seniors the opportunity to experience the expo and all the amazing, local resources. A lot of work goes into making this event a success, and Rep. Boyd and I are extremely grateful to everyone who helped.”

“Events like our Senior Expo are essential in empowering our older adults by connecting them directly to vital resources and services. It’s necessary that our seniors remain informed, engaged, and, most importantly, feel supported within the community,” said Rep. Boyd. “Thank you to everyone who stopped by and made this a wonderful event!”

Sen. Kearney and Rep. Boyd would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support this year: The Drexelbrook, PECO, Pfizer, and Senior Community Services, Aqua, Comcast, The Foundation for Delaware County, ShopRite of Drexeline, Keystone First/AmeriHealth Caritas, Sun East Federal Credit Union, and Wawa.
