Lansdale, Pa. − April 15, 2026 − State Senator Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery) and State Representative Steve Malagari (D-53 Montgomery) announced today that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) approved $4,000,000 in low-interest loans for projects in Lansdale Borough.
“As climate change brings increasingly frequent flooding and severe weather to our region, it’s crucial to invest in our water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure to keep our communities safe and thriving,” said Senator Collett. “I’ve heard from our municipal partners about the urgent needs in these areas, and I’m proud to have worked with Rep. Malagari and Lansdale Borough officials to help secure these funds.”
Lansdale Borough will receive:
- $1,000,000 to carry out streambank restoration on a tributary to the West Branch of the Neshaminy Creek. The project work will create increased infiltration, reduced runoff velocities, and fewer long-term maintenance needs. These improvements will reduce sediment loading by 34,500 pounds per year, minimize localized flooding, and protect downstream resources.
- $3,000,000 for improvements to the borough’s sewage collection system, including the replacement of 860 feet of sanitary sewer mains, 15 new manholes, and associated roadway restoration in the area of West Third Street, Edgemont Avenue, Polar Street, and North Cannon Avenue.
“Strengthening our water and stormwater systems is vital to protecting public health and safety,” said Rep. Malagari. “These projects will deliver real, lasting benefits for the people of Lansdale by protecting the environment and minimizing flooding. I am grateful to Senator Collett, Lansdale Borough and PENNVEST for supporting this important work.”
Lansdale Borough Manager John Ernst commented: “The award of this funding represents a significant investment in Lansdale Borough’s infrastructure and long-term resilience. It enables the Borough to proactively address critical system needs, strengthen environmental stewardship, and enhance public health and safety. Just as importantly, it allows these improvements to move forward without placing additional burden on local taxpayers, supporting the community’s continued stability and quality of life.”
PENNVEST provides low-cost financial assistance to address water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source pollution problems impacting public health, safety, the environment, regulatory compliance, and economic development.
