Lower Merion, PA – March 28, 2024 – At a meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) this week, $3,048,755 was awarded to projects in Montgomery County through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. The Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
“How our future goes is decided by the investments we make today, and investing in our infrastructure benefits everyone who lives in, works in, and visits our communities. The Multimodal Transportation Fund exists to further this purpose,” said Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17). “I’m proud to support these investments and am excited to see how they benefit our region.”
MTF funding may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
“These investments signify the ongoing dedication of local leaders in collaboration with state authorities towards enhancing the safety and well-being of pedestrians, our public spaces, and our communities at large,” Representative Tim Briggs (D-149) said. “I’m particularly thrilled to witness the strides made in the Moore Road multiuse trail and roadway enhancement project and the connection of Renaissance Park to Discovery Labs. These are big steps towards sustainable urban development and improved connectivity.”
“Congratulations to our grant recipients,” said Representative Mary Jo Daley (D-148) said. “By receiving funding to construct pedestrian pathways, you’re not just building paths; you’re paving the way for safer, more accessible communities. Your dedication to enhancing walkability is truly commendable.”
The awards are as follows:
- Innovation 411 Fee Owner LLC was awarded $330,000 for the expansion of Renaissance Boulevard located in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
- KGSB Investor, LLC was awarded $1,378,176 to construct transportation infrastructure at One Belmont Avenue located in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
- Saint Joseph’s University was awarded $727,930 to construct a pedestrian pathway on the campus located in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
- Upper Merion Township was awarded $612,649 for preliminary engineering and design costs for the development of a multiuse trail and roadway improvements along Moore Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
