Pittsburgh, Pa. − May 20, 2026 − Senator Lindsey M. Williams (D-Allegheny) joined community members, healthcare advocates, LGBTQ+ leaders, and other elected officials for the Ribbon Cutting and Community Open House at the new Allies for Health + Wellbeing East Liberty location on Friday, May 15.
“Allies has been a cornerstone of the Western Pennsylvania health care community for forty years,” said Senator Williams. “From their work as pioneers in the fight against HIV/AIDS to standing up against attacks against the transgender community today, Allies is on the front lines of providing health care and supportive services to those in need. I am so proud to stand with Allies for Health + Wellbeing as they provide a place where people can seek the care they need safely and without judgment, because that is more important now than ever.”
The new facility is approximately 25% larger than the old office, and includes two additional exam rooms, double the behavioral health capacity, and a larger pharmacy and food pantry area. The new space is dedicated to centering the patient and client experience and ensuring that patients in the 11-county Southwestern Pennsylvania service area have access to high-quality health care.
In addition to increased office space to serve this population, Senator Williams is also supporting grant funding that will allow Allies to purchase a vehicle for use as a mobile medical unit. When this project is complete, it will allow Allies to bring health care resources into underserved communities.
“Being able to get supportive medical care and human services in respectful setting, free of stigma and discrimination, can be the difference between life and death,” said Senator Williams. “That’s why I’m proud to support Allies’ efforts to bring those services closer to home for many people through this mobile medical unit. It’s also why I’m happy to offer my office as a resource to members of the LGBTQ community, transgender children, and their families. If you or anyone you know is looking for help, please contact one of my offices. We would be honored to serve you, regardless of where you live in Pennsylvania.”
