Charles Hooker, WITF, and Senator Lindsey Williams
Pittsburgh, Pa. − May 7, 2026 − This week, Senator Lindsey M. Williams (D-Allegheny) received the Good Neighbor Award, recognizing her as a 2026 Pennsylvania PBS Champion of Lifelong Learning. Senator Williams was chosen for this award by WQED, Pittsburgh’s local PBS station, for her consistent advocacy for public education, early learning, and library access across the Commonwealth.
“Being recognized as a Good Neighbor by WQED, home of Mr. Rogers and Daniel Tiger, is one of the highest honors I can imagine,” said Senator Williams. “Like our local PBS stations, I believe in the power of education, libraries, and books to open doors to worlds, perspectives, and opportunities that we never imagined. Every child in Pennsylvania is entitled to and deserves a fully and equitably funded education, and I’m proud to fight for that every day.”
The 2026 Good Neighbor Awards were presented by each of PBS Pennsylvania’s seven member stations at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 6, during “A Beautiful Day in the Capitol.”
