February 10, 2026 – Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) and Representative Samuelson (D-Northampton) presented tonight a $292,581 LSA grant check to Hanover Township for 44 Motorola APX all-band radios for its volunteer fire company.
Miller and Samuelson announced that this LSA grant was secured in December 2025 following the recent LSA program awards, which provided funding to eligible projects that enhance the quality of life in local communities.
“Local fire and EMS departments deserve to be equipped with the tools they need to respond quickly, coordinate effectively, and protect the community,” said Senator Nick Miller. “These radios ensure full interoperability with Northampton County’s upgraded system, helping the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company communicate faster and protect residents when it matters most.”
“Upgrading the communication equipment used by our fire company volunteers is essential as they interact with agencies including the Northampton County Emergency Management Department and Pennsylvania State Police during emergencies,” said Representative Steve Samuelson. “Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company protects our residents and businesses 24/7. Making sure our volunteers are equipped with the latest technology to assist them in their work is vital and I’m proud we were able to obtain state funding to support this project.”
“Hanover Township is extremely grateful to Senator Miller and Representative Samuelson for their support of the Township’s Local Share Grant request,” said Mark Hudson, Hanover Township Manager. “The $292,000 they helped secure will allow us to purchase new emergency radios for our Volunteer Fire Company. These radios are critical tools that enable firefighters to communicate directly with 911 and other emergency personnel, helping ensure the safety of our residents and the first responders who serve our community every day.”
