HARRISBURG, PA – November 19, 2025 – State Senator James Andrew Malone (D-36, Lancaster) today announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has awarded a $557,770 grant to the Donegal Chapter of Trout Unlimited for three planned restoration sites and minor repairs to instream structures. Funds will go toward the Woe, Miller, Young and Stoltzfus Restoration project and are estimated to reduce pollutant load by 625 lbs./yr. of nitrogen, 570 lbs./yr. of phosphorous, and 188 tons/yr. of sediment. All four sites are included in the Conowingo Creek Watershed Implementation Plan.
“I’m pleased to see the Donegal Chapter of Trout Unlimited receive these funds for stream restoration,” said Senator Malone. “Sportsmen are often the most committed conservationists. As the Minority Chair of the Pennsylvania Senate Game and Fisheries Committee, I’m excited to see Lancaster sportsmen stepping up to improve the quality of our water and streams to preserve fishing and our natural resources for future generations.”
