SB 111, PN 63 (Argall) – Allows a State correctional institution to hire or promote out of state correctional officers. Senator Langerholc offered amendment A1712, which allows a Commonwealth resident to receive residential preference as an applicant or individual seeking promotion as a corrections officer at a State correctional institution. The Senate agreed to the amendment via voice vote and the bill went over in its order as amended.
SB 755, PN 941 (Hutchinson) – Abolishes 13 boards, committees and councils, and restructures how commissioners to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission are appointed. A vote of 27-23 was recorded.
SR 177, PN 1259 (Mastriano) – Resolution directing the Joint State Government Commission to establish a legislative task force with an advisory committee of stakeholders to review, update, and codify Pennsylvania’s emergency management services law. The Joint State Government Commission would be required to complete a final report by November 30, 2026. Senator Dush offered amendment A1959, which adds the president of the Pennsylvania Firefighters Association, or a designee, as a member of the advisory committee established in the Resolution. The amendment was adopted, 50-0.
