At the request of state Senators Anthony H. Williams (D- Delaware/Philadelphia) and Tim Kearney (D- Chester/Delaware), the Senate Democratic Policy Committee will hold a public hearing this Friday in Philadelphia on the opioid epidemic.
The hearing is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. in the ground floor auditorium of Fagin Hall at the University of Pennsylvania, 418 Curie Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104
The hearing is the second in a two-part examination of drug addiction in Pennsylvania. The first hearing was held on Feb 12 in Media, Pa.
“The opioid epidemic has had a deep impact in our communities and across Pennsylvania,” Williams said. “We need to find compassionate solutions for getting these drugs out of our communities, and for healing the individuals and families who have been harmed by opioid addiction.”
Kearney added, “The opioid epidemic has hit our communities hard, and it’s going to take an all-hands approach to prevent addiction, get people into treatment, and save lives. This second hearing will further focus on the bold plans we need to tackle this crisis head on and provide communities with the resources they need.”
The Senate Democratic Policy Committee is chaired by Sen. Lisa Boscola (D-Northampton/Lehigh).
