Legislation creating an independent commission to draw political district maps of the state and prevent gerrymandering was amended in the Senate State Government Committee. The new version gives lawmakers a greater hand in choosing commission members. Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa says he’d like to see further changes made to the bill before it goes to a final vote.
