HARRISBURG, September 20, 2017 – State Senator Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery/Delaware) today voted to non-concur on the Pennsylvania House of Representative’s revenue plan and create a conference committee to write a plan that can be supported by both chambers.
The final vote on non-concurrence was 43-7.
Leach’s statement:
“Today an overwhelming bipartisan Senate majority rejected the House’s revenue plan because it relies on raids of state funds that are either illegal, unsustainable, or non-existent. There are lots of acceptable options for solving our revenue problem, but the House Republicans continue trying to trick the public and themselves into believing that these gimmicks will actually pay for the spending plan we all agreed to. Their rhetoric hasn’t fooled us or the experts at Standard & Poor’s, which downgraded Pa’s credit rating this morning. Until the House Republicans are ready to consider sustainable solutions to our revenue shortfall, I don’t know how we’re getting out of this mess.”
