SB 269 PN 874 (Baker): This legislation amends the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act by adding two additional seats to the Uniform Construction Code Review and Advisory Council, extensively revising the code review process and increasing the building permit fee by 50 cents. The bill was approved 40-10.

SB 522 PN 875 (Greenleaf): This bill amends Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) to consolidate the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole into a single agency called the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The bill was approved 38-12.

SB 523 PN 867 (Greenleaf): This bill amends The Crime Victims Act to make technical changes related to the consolidation of the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole into a single agency called the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The bill was approved 48-2.

SB 561 PN 608 (DiSanto): This bill requires the General Assembly to approve any “economically significant” regulation- via concurrent resolution- before it can take effect. Senator DiSanto offered Amendment A01413, which would make technical changes to the bill. The amendment was agreed to and the bill was rereferred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

HB 271 PN 1821 (Ortitay): This bill amends to Title 4 (Amusements) to authorize fantasy contests, interactive gaming, multi-use computing device gaming, iLottery, and technical edits to the Gaming Act. Senator Corman offered Amendment A01447, which would ensure consistent tax rates for internet gaming in and out of the state and ensure consistent definitions of internet gaming licenses and certificate holders. Senator Killion offered Amendment A01473, which amended Senator Corman’s amendment. Amendment A01473 amends the distribution amounts cities of the third class would receive “pursuant to a written agreement with a licensed gaming entity.” Both amendments were agreed to by voice vote. Senator Corman motioned to proceed to an immediate vote of House Bill 271 notwithstanding Senate Rule 12, the motion was agreed to by voice vote and the bill was approved 38-12.

SB 589 PN 756 (Langerholc): The bill amends Title 75 by increasing the maximum allowable gross weight for commercial vehicles powered by natural gas (NGVs) from 80,000 pounds to 82,000 pounds. Senator Rafferty offered Amendment A01140, which would provide for definitions and allows for the transportation of freight if the weight is within the limits of an automobile. The amendment was agreed to.

SR 75 PN 698 (Mensch): The resolution directs the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to conduct a study of the extent to which rape kits remain unprocessed in this Commonwealth and identify the reasons that the kits remain untested. The resolution was adopted by voice vote.
