SB 812, PN 1078 (Hughes) – This legislation would make an appropriation from the Professional Licensure Augmentation Account and from restricted revenue accounts within the General Fund to the Department of State for operations. A vote of 49-0 was recorded.
SB 813, PN 1079 (Hughes) – Senate bill 813 provides for appropriations from the Workmen’s Compensation Administration Fund to the Department of Labor and Industry, the Uninsured Employers Guaranty Fund (UEGF), and to the Office of the Small Business Advocate within the Department of Community and Economic Development. Senator Gordner offered amendment A02604, which decreases the amount, from $5 million to $3 million, dedicated for maintenance of the Uninsured Employers Guaranty Fund. SB 129, P N 511 (Wiley) – This legislation clarifies how COLA’s are calculated for county pension plans. Specifically, the legislation clarifies that cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) do not need to be calculated retroactively to the date of the previous COLA approved by the county retirement board and do not need to apply the cost-of-living index change for each year since such previous COLAs. This would remove a deterrent faced by some county pension boards hesitant to consider a COLA. Senator Wiley offered amendment A02244, which further describes when a COLA may be provided. The amendment was agreed to and the bill went over in its order as amended.
SB 307, PN 197 (Yudichak) – This bill amends the Administrative Code, dealing with the Environmental Quality Board (board), to allow for the board to have an independent counsel to assist the board in its review of proposed and final rulemakings, and all other matters before the board. A vote of 49-0 was recorded.
SB 609, PN 892 (Mensch) – This bill establishes a task force on prostate cancer and related chronic prostate conditions. This act shall be known as the Prostate Cancer Surveillance, Education, Detection and Treatment Act. A vote of 49-0 was recorded.
