SB 174 PN 676: Amends the Workforce Development Act by establishing the Pennsylvania Center for Health Careers within the Department of Labor and Industry which will develop strategies to address the State’s short-term and long-term health care work force challenges.  Senator Gordner introduced Amendment A06783. The amendment adds an expiration date of June 30, 2015. The amendment was adopted 50-0

SB 288 PN 1921: Establishes the State Board of Plumbing Contractors within the Department of Labor and Industry and creates the Plumbing Contractors Licensure Account in Treasury.  The bill was approved 32-18.

HB 975 PN 2060:  Amends the act of May 23, 1945 (P.L. 913, No. 367) known as the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law.  Provides for geologist-in-training certification and replaces the existing professional engineer, land surveyor and geologist continuing education provisions with language that is based on National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) model continuing education language. The bill was approved 50-0.

SB 214 PN 1734: This bill amends Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) providing for the offense of greyhound race simulcasting. Sen. Greenleaf offered amendment A06675 which deletes the criminal penalty and substitutes a civil penalty with $10,000 maximum. The amendment was agreed to.  The bill went over as amended.

SB 918 PN 1109: Amends Title 53 (Municipalities Generally) by adding a new Chapter 88 entitled “Consolidated County Assessment Law”. Sen. Pileggi offered amendment A06743 which authorizes the county commissioners to establish auxiliary appeal boards to hear and determine appeals brought by aggrieved property owners and allows those appeal boards to be in existence until the time as all such appeals are hear. The amendment was agreed to. The bill went over as amended.
