HARRISBURG – June 4, 2019 – On Wednesday at 9:30pm on the Lieutenant Governor’s balcony, members of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus will outline various policy on gun reform in the commonwealth in an effort to provide substantive reform that addresses the proliferation of firearms as well as those effects at a state level.

Senator Street (D) “As a nation and commonwealth we must demand action and resist the political paralysis that persists too often in the wake of routine gun violence”, said Street,  “The attacks we’ve seen at the synagogue in Squirrel Hill, the desecration of the Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia, the desecration of the Al Aqsa mosque and others are attacks on what makes this country unique. They’re attacks on who we are. I’m glad to join our caucus in presenting a series of policy to protect our communities.”

Senator Haywood (D) “If we can require fishing licenses to protect trout, we can require firearm licenses to protect human lives”, said Senator Haywood, “SB344 that I have introduced, does that. We have waited far too long and done far too little to save lives, today is the day to recommit to ending gun violence.”

Senator Costa (D) “Last fall, gun violence struck in my community with the murder of 11 of my friends and neighbors at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill. And I appreciated the thoughts and prayers that were sent our way from across the country. I prayed myself for the victims, but that’s not enough. It’s time for action on gun reform legislation.”

Senator Street will also be joined Moms Demand Action, Senators Art Haywood, Wayne Fontana, Katie Muth, Steve Santarsiero, Maria Collett, Tim Kearney, Anthony Williams and Christine Tartaglione, as well as other members of the Senate Democratic Caucus, Moms Demand Action. A range of policy will be discussed.
